Cancer is hitting about 41% of the population. Many others have serious diseases and conditions. Others may be very ill and yet have no diagnosis. Many are not seriously ill, but just don't feel as well as they could, or used to.
Sadly, some don't cherish their health, until it is gone. Then they have aches, pains and the inability to get out and do the things they want to. It can also affect the time one spends with even the family, as these people are not up to the activities.
The best thing to do is practice prevention, even though that is not a sexy word. Learn as much as you can and start making some changes. Then learn what to do for the common sicknesses, so that you don't have to take medication. Head it off before it gets bad and you don't have to wait for a new year's resolution to get started.
There is a very common saying that we very likely have not given much thought about lately and that is "today is the first day of the rest of your life". It would do good to have these words framed where our eyes can see them first thing everyday, along with the simple yet effective, "don't worry be happy".
