Everything Eventually Gets More Comfortable

I am taking about high chairs, yes for your child a simple or supposed to be simple chair that allows your infant to be raised to table level to enjoy dinner with the rest of the family. There are literally hundreds of chair designs to choose from and unlike other products such as strollers I found most of the features on these chairs to be a little over the top.

I can't even remember the high chair I had as a kid but I am guessing it was pretty basic and most likely made of wood. I am sure aside from weight rendering it tough to travel with my parents never complained about the unit. Well things have changed and a wood high chair is not available unless you go to a store that makes and sells wood furniture. All of the big box stores sell plastic chairs.

For the most part the good news about the plastic chairs is that they are quite easy to travel with, most of them. They adjust up and down and most of them now have a title seat back feature. Can you imagine our kids now have the equivalent of a lazy boy chair in the form of a high chair.

Of course there is a lot of padding which I am again sure that I didn't have as a child. Our parents would simply sit us on the hard wood chair that it was and clean up was always easy. Like most things our children live in a world where everything in general is a lot more comfortable and these new chairs have padding and cushions to again in my opinion mimic a lazy boy. The good news is these pads are removable and in most cases machine washable.

The chair that we ended up settling on has a removable table top, which again is also machine washable. So I guess when you break things down these new chairs are easier to transport, easier to clean and much more comfortable for your child. I guess the only thing I am complaining about is that we didn't have it as good as the kids do today. I suppose every generation goes through similar observations, progress does allow for comfort and usability.

So good luck finding the chair that best suits your needs and keep in mind that there are some great deals available on used products. Buying new isn't the only option you have and maybe if you are really lucky you will inherit one from an older sibling or cousin.
